This project is the result of my passion for architecture, interior design, cinematography and music. Everything you see is 100% CGI (no AI of course), created using the free 3D software Blender. The score is also composed by me, and best enjoyed through some proper speakers or headphones. Hope you like it :)
I went deep into the compositing stage for this project, drawing lots of inspiration from mid century architectural magazines. When scanned in they usually show a combination of film characteristics, half toning and CMYK print misalignment from the printing stage as well as imperfections and artificial sharpening from the digital processing and scanning of the catalogues. I wondered what would happen if I tried transferring these looks onto video, which is what I've tried doing in this project. I think the imperfections and abnormalities in stuff is what gives it character and what makes it relatable and realistic. It's a shame that the Youtube compression is so tough though, so I'd recommend watching it in full 4K.
The programs I used in the project was Blender for all of the set layout, modeling, lighting texturing and rendering. The compositing was done in After Effects and the final sequence was edited in Davinci Resolve. For the scoring, it was composed in Logic Pro X.
All of these shots are inspired by real world architects and furniture designers such as:
Rem Koolhaas, Charles & Ray Eames, John Lautner, Hans & Florence Knoll, Kazuo Shinohara, Bahk Jong Sun, Wilhelm Wagenfeld, Paul Rudolph, André Lurcat, Verner Panton and David Bowen.
