In 1819, the ailing Francisco de Goya retreats to “La Quinta del Sordo” to live in solitude. Haunted by ghosts of his past and nearing death, he paints the Black Paintings on his home’s walls in a desperate attempt to banish them—sacrificing his sanity and nearly his life.
