Dancing In Norms | Motion Design (2024) — Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg

The German Institute for Standardization (DIN) has created over 33,000 standards in the last century. These standards influence our daily physical movement. By recording a freely improvised dance with motion capture and translating these movements into unique character designs, we delve into the irony of technical standards: designed for us, yet limiting us.
Samuel Lewek's graduation project in Motion Design at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg invites us to question what it means to move as a human being in a world shaped by norms and technology.
The project was supervised by Alexander Hanowski and Prof. Dr. Heike Sperling.
