Looking to revive his career, Argentine heavyweight boxer Oscar “Ringo” Bonavena arrives in Nevada in 1976. Unwittingly, he becomes involved with the gambling mafia, led by Joe Conforte, who promises him a successful future. Ringo will spend the last three months of his life hoping for a final fight with Muhammad Ali, but he will be murdered under mysterious circumstances.
