Rust and Bone directed by Jacques Audiard (2012)
For Rust & Bone by Jacques Audiard, the VFX teams from Mikros Image—now known as MPC Paris—under the supervision of Cédric Fayolle, took on the challenge of creating invisible visual effects that fully served the story, especially for depicting the amputation of Marion Cotillard’s character’s legs. This close collaboration with the director required a deep understanding of his creative vision and a subtle approach so that the visual effects supported the emotion without distracting the audience.
By combining practical on-set techniques, digital effects, and strong coordination across all departments, the team completed about 200 VFX shots, all while preserving the authenticity and emotional impact of the film.
