On January 23, Takashi Yamazaki, Kiyoko Shibuya, Masaki Takahashi and Tatsuji Nojima were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, on their work on Godzilla Minus One. All 610 of the film's visual effect shots were handled by a crew of 35 artists at Shirogumi's Chōfu studio, under the supervision of Yamazaki, and direction of Kiyoko Shibuya. Yamazaki himself had to go overtime and do the visual effects himself at certain occasion. The entire process spanned from April 2022 to May 2023. Thank you, Yamazaki. Thank you, Toho.
