While often notorious for its, at times, unrealistic rubbery looking visuals, computer-generated imagery in movies has also fooled many viewers into thinking that what they were watching was real. But whether you can tell the difference or not, it's usually safe to assume that, if it looks impossible, it was probably done using CGI. Or is it? Because some of the most iconic VFX have actually been done without CGI, using practical effects and other camera trickery.
